Shark cage tours do not endanger the public, lure sharks close to shore or have any significant environmental impact. This has been verified by a scientific study.
Hawaii North Shore Shark Tour Facts
Our core missions:
- Safe and sustainable viewing of sharks in their ocean environment
- Providing jobs and supporting our local economy
- Giving back to the community
Good for sharks, good for people
Many shark populations are being decimated by overfishing but we generate sustainable income from sharks without having to kill them or disrupt their natural migrations. Every year we provide opportunities for thousands of Hawaii residents and visitors to view sharks in their ocean environment. Our tours are hugely popular, they help to bolster tourism and support our local economy.
The real facts about our shark tours
Our tours are safe, sustainable and legal. We are visited by sharks that are non-aggressive to people. There has been no increase in shark attacks on the north shore of Oahu since we started business.
Industry licensing and code of conduct
We support development of a shark tour licensing scheme for Hawaii, in conjunction with an industry code of conduct to ensure that shark tour operations continue to be operated in a safe, sustainable and environmentally sensitive manner. Similar schemes are operated in South Africa, Australia and Mexico. These countries have officially recognized the important contribution of the cage diving industry to shark conservation, research, education and economy.
