North Shore Shark Adventures Gives Back to the Community

Just like how we care about the sharks we encounter on Oahu’s North Shore near Haleiwa, we also care for our community and all the individuals with disabilities. When we can we look to support and help out the Special Olympics and Make-A-Wish foundation. Recently we donated to Special Olympics Hawaii as we know they have a fundraising event coming up on November 7, 2015 called the “Special Olympics Hawaii’s Over The Edge” where 96 selected individuals will have the honor of literally being suspended over the edge of the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Beach Resort to provide local children and adults with intellectual disabilities the chance to participate in the Special Olympics sports training and competitions at no cost to them or their families. Check out the link to show your support! http://www.specialolympicshawaii.org/fundraising-events/over-the-edge.html

Kathryn Reitenbach, Wish Coordinator from The Make-A-Wish Hawaii foundation contacted us to talk about a young fella diagnosed with acute Lymphoid Leukemia at the age of 15. Not exactly the news anybody wants to hear. If you aren’t familiar, it’s a form of cancer that starts in the blood-forming cells of the bone marrow which eventually spills into the bloodstream and therefore being able to spread to other organs. The tricky part of this horrible cancer is that many people don’t have any symptoms for at least a few years.

On a brighter note, we’re going to be ecstatic to have Aldo from La Porte, TX & his family later this month to be in the cage diving right next to sharks! Here’s to making a wish come true! Please check out The Make-A-Wish Hawaii Foundation’s site to make a wish come true for a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. http://hawaii.wish.org/about-us

Mucho Aloha Everyone!
